The joint BOMS/APICS meeting, hosted by BOMS, was very well attended by undergrads, some APICS board members and some regular APICS members. It was a very interactive presentation. There were no slides, save for the lone projection during the introduction. Cary called on students throughout his talk and engaged them to think, ask questions and voice their thoughts. He shined a spotlight on how everyone can benefit from identifying the handful of things that truly make them happy and fulfilled. He coupled that with helping everyone understand their personal triggers that lead them into emotional escalation, a territory where we tend to make poor decisions that are often hurtful to others. He then tied it all together by showing the links personal success has to helping others, being true to your values and priorities and becoming acutely aware that time devoted to one priority will absolutely deduct time from another priority. The venue was a good sized, but very comfortable, lecture auditorium on the ground floor of Pfahl Hall located in the business college on the OSU campus. There was plenty of parking at the Lane Avenue parking garage only about a half block away. There was also plenty of pizza for everyone and spiffy BOMS T-Shirts for everyone when they left.
