Derek Browning, a Director of Consulting Services for LeanCor Supply Chain Group, spoke on January 8, 2019 to a well attended joint meeting of ASQ and APICS at Crowne Plaza North, 6500 Doubletree Ave, Columbus, OH 43229

Derek explained that lean is often better served when managers and executives regularly take the time to get out of their offices and observe what is happening on the manufacturing floor and in the warehouse.

Derek Browning explaining that all departments in an organization must work toward the common goal of the success of the company.  This is best when incentives are structured toward that goal, but sometimes departments must take it upon themselves to work toward that goal even if incentives have not yet been properly aligned.  In other words, sometime it is necessary to sacrifice some department metric to support the larger success of the company.
